The IAAP’s (International Association of Accessibility Professionals) ‘Network & Learn’ events are especially for IAAP members, plus anyone considering becoming a member.

The topic for October's event is “Vocal accessibility in system design and the new code of practice from the British Standards Institute.”

This month Nick Freear, Senior Accessibility Consultant at AbilityNet, will be sharing an overview on the new code of practice for voice-powered services, and how we can test those services for accessibility. From Alexa and Siri to voice-powered tech such as phones and cars – the new guidelines will help set a standard about how voice-powered services can be made accessible for all. In this session we’ll delve into the guidelines further, answer any of your questions, and go through any challenges you’ve come across such as non-standard speech patterns, accents and so on.

The virtual event is a networking session where members and potential members can share accessibility tips and expertise, but it also acts as an event to help build and strengthen our community for accessibility professionals. It’s a great session for you to learn from other accessibility industry leaders, and it's the perfect opportunity for you to connect with other professionals in the accessibility space. Make sure to sign up to the event today and for anyone who can't attend, we will be sharing the recording afterwards.
